Love Local: A Soil Festival to Grow Healthier Communities

  • Truly Living Well 324 Lawton Street SW Atlanta, GA 30310 (map)

Show your garden some love by joining us at the second annual soil festival!

Community gardens require lots of TLC, and much of the nurturing starts with the soil. Give your garden the love it deserves at “Love Local: A Soil Festival to Grow Healthier Communities.” We are uniting around community and backyard gardeners to support their role in shaping healthier communities in metro Atlanta.

The 2016 Soil Festival will be the perfect place to get the resources you need for your garden while meeting fellow growers at Truly Living Well’s newest urban farm located on the westside.

  • Meet fellow gardeners and local food advocates

  • Qualify to win organic compost

  • Take a composting workshop

  • Bring soil from your garden for complimentary testing

  • Get technical assistance and answers to your garden questions

  • Bring children for fun activities

  • Enjoy delicious locally-grown food and drinks

Bring a sample of your soil for TWO complimentary soil tests.

  1. Get information on your soil at the SoilSHOP! Public health and soil experts can do a free, anonymous XRF screening of your soil to provide you with immediate information regarding lead content.

  2. The UGA Extension office will be present and able to take your soil sample for lab analysis. (The lab analysis is free for selected community gardens; costs start at $6 for a routine test for nutrients and pH) . Results can be mailed or emailed to you within 7-10 days.

Come out with your fellow community garden members, family and friends to learn how each of us can help to preserve the life underneath our feet and continue growing healthier communities!
